This past Friday, October 3rd, Flint Hill held one of its first Open Mics of the year, a community-building event held during break, inviting people to share their talents. People sang along to the music, waved their phone flashlights, and cheered in support of the performers, which helped kick off Homecoming Weekend.
Open Mic has been a tradition at Flint Hill for the past couple of years, serving as a way to bring Huskies together and showcase some of the talents Flint Hill has. This year’s Homecoming Open Mic featured several talented performances. Sophomore Sabrina Kladakis, singing “Before He Cheats” by Carrie Underwood; Senior Bushra Alsinnawi, singing “Love in the Dark” by Adele; and Senior Julia Murphy, singing “Dear John” by Taylor Swift all filled the commons with loud applause and cheers.
Overall, the event was well-attended by students and faculty, serving as a way for Huskies to connect and form a community over shared support.
Moving forward, Huskies are definitely adhering to the schoolwide attempt to increase Husky spirit, and Open Mic is a great way to build that spirit through maintaining Flint Hill traditions. School spirit isn’t just about attending the sports and games Huskies play, but also about going to watch and listen to the music and art Huskies create. Students showed support for music and art at Open Mic. Let’s keep up supporting other Huskies!
