Morgan’s Message Dedication Game – Field Hockey

Categories:

On Thursday, October 2, the Flint Hill School Varsity Field Hockey team dedicated the game to Morgan’s Message, a nonprofit organization created in memory of Morgan Rodgers, a former Duke lacrosse player who tragically died by suicide. This organization aims to eliminate the stigma around mental health and normalize conversations about it. Morgan’s Message has rapidly grown since its founding in 2020 by Kurt and Dona Rodgers, with 5,248 ambassadors as of October 13, 2025. At Flint Hill School, there are three active ambassadors: Jane Stanley ’26, Emily Bogle ’27, and Nate Jurutka ’27. Within the club at Flint Hill School, there are 73 members. This club meets once a month to discuss potential activities with the school and to plan dedication games. Conversations surrounding mental health are always welcome at the Morgan’s Message club!

At this dedication game, teal-colored ribbons and wristbands were passed around the team. Following warm-ups, both teams stood side-by-side on the edge of the field in anticipation of the dedication speech for Morgan’s Message. Senior Jane Stanley ’26 stepped in front of the crowd and both teams and delivered a short, but impactful speech about the purpose of Morgan’s Message and the importance of dedication games. Following this speech, Audrey Hines ’27 took the microphone and delivered a beautiful performance of the “Star-Spangled Banner”.

This game also happened to be the Varsity Field Hockey team’s Homecoming game. This week was especially exciting for all the Fall sports teams because Flint Hill had rented temporary lights, so the games were scheduled later in the afternoon. The lights were a fun change for the week and only added to Homecoming’s excitement. Picking this date for the Morgan’s Message dedication game ensured that the message from this organization would reach more people, which is one of the most crucial purposes of Morgan’s Message. Overall, this was a very successful experience for the Morgan’s Message club, as they added to the emotions of Homecoming week with an exciting dedication game.
