After hearing numerous complaints and worries about the lack of the Daily Report, some of which were highlighted in our first article, we had the pleasure of sitting down and discussing a new development in place of the Daily Report for next semester with the members of the Flint Hill Upper School office. We would like to highlight their hard work in coming up with this new solution, reimagining the Daily Report in a completely different way, complete with additional features and updates.
The former Daily Report has now been renamed Student Life Weekly, and is accessible on Husky Hub instead of in a Google Slides sequence. This was a change that we were a bit apprehensive about at first in the meeting, but once explained, we now wholeheartedly agree with. As explained by Director of Information Technology Shawn Arrington, the Google slide sequence was very hard to constantly update, and staff across all departments had to put in a lot of extra work to maintain these constant updates to the best of their abilities, especially if a game was cancelled or a delayed day was announced at the last minute.
What made the new format more efficient was that all of the data, whether it be from games, club updates, etc, could be pulled directly from Husky Hub and put into the Student Life Weekly with live updates, meaning that if a game was canceled, it would immediately be shown as canceled on Student Life Weekly. The idea of having it on Husky Hub was also thought to be better because it would be more accessible to all students, as that is the main website students use to find assignments, grades, and more, so it would only make sense to have all our information for the weekdays compiled into one place, resulting in the Student Life Weekly being born.
The new system will be organized into different categories, so it is easy to revisit what has been posted. As seen in the photo above, visuals will be added under each link to provide more information about clubs or essential updates like schedule changes, SCA announcements, Dances, Trips, Meet interests, and volunteering opportunities. All schedules for Athletics Games will also be featured on the Students’ Life Weekly, to easily see upcoming games you are competing in or going to support your fellow Huskies. You will be able to find it under a new tab on Husky Hub in the second semester, and it will officially be launched next year in the second semester.
We would like to give a sincere thanks to Ms. Tam, Mr. Arrington, Ms. Scott, Ms. Hameed, Ms. Shade, and others behind the scenes who allowed us to have a meaningful conversation about the new Student Life Weekly Tab and give our own personal input on it. We hope that everybody is excited about this new system, as it launches us into the new year. This just goes to show that at Flint Hill, the opinion of students is powerful and is not only acknowledged by staff but also taken into action to create a better space for everyone. We hope everyone stays tuned and has a wonderful winter break!

I appreciate the follow-up reporting that this article featured. It is great to see that the team of staff working on the Student Life Weekly is open to feedback from the student body and are modeling flexibility and compassion for the concerns that were shared. The new version looks very engaging – when will it be launched?
