The seniors at Flint Hill have started on a sentimental project, making time capsules in an attempt to give them something to remember 10 years from now when they “dig them up.”
The idea is to give each senior a paper bag and let them put whatever they want in it throughout the year. Things like sports awards, pictures with friends, or sentimental objects come to mind when discussing what most seniors are planning to put into their bags.
When the year is over, every senior will return their bag to the school for collection in 10 years. Senior Maxwell Hamilton talked about what he thinks the impact of the time capsules will be:
“The impact is supposed to be that in 10 years, we get to see what stuff was trending back then and what we liked back then.”
The capsules definitely present a unique way to look back on your high school experience, and giving the seniors a way to remember an important year can always be fun. They also give the seniors a moment to reflect on how their year is going and how they want it to be remembered.
Although the 2nd semester has only just started, we’re already halfway through the year, and soon the seniors will have their last couple of days here, so giving them a project to make this year memorable is a great idea.
All in all, although the seniors haven’t gotten to do much with their time capsules yet, it is definitely a great idea to push the class of ‘26 to make and save great memories, so their future selves can look back on them.
