From the burst of confetti on college admissions decisions to the quickly approaching Senior Day, Flint Hill seniors are counting down the days until their graduation caps fly into the air.
As final projects, assignments, and hours of homework pile up in stacks on Husky Hub, they act as a reminder that each moment spent working toward that submit button may be the last. While the college admissions process as a whole is filled with ups and downs, it’s an experience that, in its entirety, teaches you patience and reflection as each and every senior balances their strenuous AP coursework delicately alongside a reflection of personal identity. As the official May 1st deadline to commit is swiftly approaching, more and more Flint Hill seniors are celebrating their success and eagerly awaiting their new communities next fall!
Nonetheless, it is critical to remember the idea of reflection during this period of quickly approaching deadlines, grad party invitations, senior speech write-ups, and advisory parties. Over the next few weeks, the seniors will experience their last moments within Flint Hill’s walls before embarking on their next academic chapter, delving into a specific scope of study that will not only take them down roads of deep academic discovery but also connect back to their interdisciplinary studies at Flint Hill. Graduate, Grace Semko (‘25), recently connected with me during her visit back in the spring: “Flint Hill has gone above and beyond my expectations, and I often cross over with readings and books I had previously dissected in Flint Hill courses, adding depth to my cultivation of knowledge.”
As the class of 2026 begins to close the chapter within Flint Hill walls and becomes exposed to new fields and areas of study through the Senior Project, it becomes clear that the launch is imminent. Each moment spent laughing at lunch tables, connecting in discussions during class, “car-rotting”, playing senior assassin, and existing as one whole must be savored to its entirety.
Over the next week, take the time to say “hi” and make connections, because supporting Seniors through this monumental transition while also recognizing current relationships is essential to flipping the page. On June 12th, when the class of 2026 strides across the finish line and sends their caps soaring into the sky, let’s remember: “Once a Husky, always a Husky.”
Congratulations, Class of 2026!
