As the trees lose their autumn leaves and darkness arrives earlier and earlier, our winter sports teams have begun scaling colossal walls for Climbing and plunging into pools for Swim and Dive.
Our Water Huskies have begun practice and welcomed a new head coach, Dr. Mike Anderson, who is also an Upper School English teacher. Dr. Anderson has been involved in coaching for approximately five years, and the team has shared their enthusiasm for his leadership. This season, the swim team has grown in numbers and welcomed a flurry of underclassmen who joined with a lot of enthusiasm for the coming season, following the team’s MAC championship win just last year.
Along with the start of the new season, the team welcomes a couple of new captains: Karan Chugh ‘26, Lucas Bermudez ‘26, Zach Arnold ‘26, Thomas Carstater ‘26, Sam Jacobsen ‘26, Brooke Crickenberger ‘26, Camdyn Parker ‘26, Devon Baker ‘26, and Zoe Simmons ‘27. In an interview with Carstater about his bets on the upcoming season, he shared, “I’m hopeful that we will come back stronger with Coach Anderson’s lead, and be able to grow a supportive team culture with many new swimmers coming to join.” Notably, in line with our Upper Schools’ increase in spirit over the past couple of months, the swim team will host a variety of dinners and spirit nights to increase team spirit and create a more supportive team culture.
Also joining the swim team again this season is Coach DeWolf, who has been integral to the team’s success over the past couple of years. Team Captain Brooke Crickenberger expressed her gratitude for Coach DeWolf: “She always brings a smile to our team and to anyone who has the opportunity to work with her!” With this, the swim team welcomes Coach Diaz, who brings her coaching experience to the team, specializing in helping new swimmers.
Over the next couple of weeks, our swimmers will be competing in six swim meets before the holiday season, so we wish them all the best as they embark on their season. As always, anyone interested in participating on the swim team is welcome to speak with Dr. Anderson or contact the athletic office for more information.
Go Water Huskies!
